Senator Harte in physio after fall
LABOUR senator Jimmy Harte has started physiotherapy as he continues to make a remarkable recovery after a fall two weeks ago.
His wife Mary has told of her belief that the senior politician will eat Christmas dinner with the family.
"If you were to tell me this time last week that Jimmy would be up on an exercise bike, holding a glass of water himself and starting physiotherapy, I wouldn't have believed it," she said.
Mrs Harte said: "I know he will be back on his feet, and I know he will recover fully."
And she added that: "I know he will be back in public life."
Senator Harte, pictured, suffered serious head injuries after a fall in Newmarket Square on November 16. He had attended the Ireland game against Latvia in the Aviva Stadium earlier.
It is believed that he may have suffered a recurrence of a previous heart complaint, collapsed and hit his head on concrete. He was rushed to hospital after being found by a passerby at 3am.
