Second son tops off fine year for Padraig
THE champagne corks were popping in the Harrington household again at the weekend as Open Champion Padraig and wife Caroline announced the birth of their second child, Ciaran.
A year of unforgettable achievement for Europe's top golfer came to the perfect climax on Saturday when Caroline delivered a bouncing baby brother for four-year-old Paddy.
The new arrival weighed in at eight pounds and 15 ounces and delighted dad Padraig reported that "both mother and son are doing great".
Harrington, who followed-up on his historic success at last May's Irish Open by capturing the British Open at Carnoustie in July, has formally withdrawn from this week's Nedbank Challenge in Sun City.
The South African event's organisers had been aware all along that the Open Champion was an unlikely starter as he awaited the birth of his second child.
