A man in his 60s was arrested in the Dundalk area on Monday in relation to the disappearance of Dundalk woman Ciara Breen.

The man was subsequently released without charge, and a file is currently being prepared for the DPP.

Ciara was just 17 when she disappeared from her Dundalk home without trace in 1997.

Gardaí in Dundalk began a new search last week following a series of anonymous tip-offs from the public after a fresh appeal for information was made.

The man's arrest on Monday is the second made this year in relation to the case.

In April, a man in his 50s from Dundalk was held for questioning before released without charge.

Searches have concentrated on Balmer’s Bog in Dundalk, an isolated area near the Garda and train station in Dundalk.
