The search has resumed for a missing man who was last seen 48 hours ago in Wexford.

The search was called off earlier today due to the bad weather but resumed shortly after 6pm today.

The 33-year-old man from Courtown was last seen at around 8.30 pm on Sunday evening.

His car was found on the south pier in Courtown on Monday morning by local fishermen.

The Rescue 116 helicopter from Dublin, Courtown Lifeboat, a local unit of the Irish Coast Guard and members of An Garda Síochána were assisting in the search this morning.

The Waterford helicopter had to turn back due to poor weather, and the Dublin helicopter was called in and it searched the area for several hours before returning to base at around 10 am.

The Irish Coastguard said the search is ongoing.
