TEN general election candidates have been offered the chance to embark on a new career if they fail to win a seat in the new Dail.
But the new job will involve strutting their stuff on the catwalk rather than pounding the pavements of their constituency.
The Dail 'dudes' and 'darlings' have been selected to take part in a campaign, launched yesterday by bookies Paddy Power and modelling agency, Assets, to find the most attractive male and female candidate running in the election.
The two shortlists of five were drawn up by an expert team of beauty and fashion professionals, headed by Assets boss, Derek Daniels.
The 'Dail's dishiest darlings' are: Averil Power, FF (Dublin North East); Catherine Yore, FG (Meath West); Lorraine Higgins, Lab (Galway East); Aine Clancy, Lab (Dublin Central); and Lucinda Creighton, FG (Dublin south east).
The 'dudes' are: Dominic Hannigan , Lab (Meath East); Leo Varadkar, FG (Dublin West); James Carroll, FF (Louth); Naoise O Muiri, FG (Dublin north central); and Eoghan Murphy, FG (Dublin south east).
The Assets agency is offering a 12-month modelling contract to the winners if their political careers bite the dust on February 25.
Voting is currently under way on paddypower.com and the winners will be announced on Monday week.
