Search for missing ferry passenger
A LAND and sea search was launched yesterday for a passenger believed missing from an Irish Ferries vessel, but the age or gender of the person is not known.
The driver of a Eurolines coach, travelling from Pembroke to Rosslare on the 'Isle of Inishmore' car ferry, reported the person missing on arrival in Wexford yesterday morning.
It is believed the driver noted the person missing after carrying out a headcount and reported it to Irish Ferries staff, who searched the vessel.
The gardai and Coast Guard were also alerted at around 9am.
The Coast Guard helicopter carried out an extensive sea search but it was called off shortly before midday, with no trace of anybody in the water.
Gardai said they are aware of the incident, but said no formal missing person's report has been filed.
