School runs up €40,000 for charity

CELEBRITY Masterchef winner and athlete David Gillick and Dublin football star Paul Mannion (pictured above) gave students from their former secondary school a run for their money in aid of charity.

Seven hundred students at St Benildus College in Kilmacud, south Dublin were hot on the heels of the pair as they took part in the school's annual 'Run for Life'.

It took a 10km route around Kilmacud, Stillorgan and Sandyford and helped raise over €40,000 for charity.

Students from the neighbouring St Raphaela's Secondary School for girls also took part in the event.

The run has raised over €350,000 for local and national charities since it started 12 years ago.
