School pickets on polling day
CAMPAIGNERS seeking to protect small rural schools plan to picket in the vicinity of polling booths across the country on referendum day.
Organisers say "hundreds" of schools will be picketed over fears that the Government intends to remove a further 250 teachers.
Demonstrators say they will obey the electoral law by remaining 100 yards from polling booths.
Senator Fidelma Healy Eames said "ongoing fears about the fate of rural schools could jeopardise our capacity to fund ourselves and our schools by facilitating a No vote''.
