We can say goodbye to the blissful sunny days we experienced earlier this week, the rain is back for the weekend.

According to a Met Eireann spokeswoman, conditions will be more “unsettled” this weekend:

“The weather will be cooler and fresher with temperatures dropping to 15 to 18 degrees, well down on what we had earlier this week.”

“The humidity will also be gone, there will be some sunshine but a lot of showers, particularly in the West.”

“The winds won’t be crazy but it will be a lot breezier than it has been due to the warm weather.”

The humidity will also go.

“There will be sunny periods, but for the most we can expect some pretty heavy rain.”

Today will be wet and dull for the most part, but things will brighten up in the afternoon.

Temperatures will remain on the cooler side, with lows of 14 degrees.

Saturday will start off dry but heavy showers will spread across the country and be prolonged for most of the day.

Some showers may be thundery.

As for Sunday, we can expect a drier start but shower will become widespread from the afternoon.

Into next week, Met Eireann are predicting continuing rain, light breezes, with things clearing from Wednesday onwards.
