Sarah McNabb's friends chanted "brailliant" yesterday when the Galway Junior Cert student told them of her results.

Sarah cannot read print due to a visual impairment, but, undeterred, she sat her exams using Braille and was yesterday celebrating.

"I got two As, three Bs and two Cs", a delighted Sarah said.

Her school, Salerno College on Threadneedle Road in Salthill, Co Galway, had made special arrangements to allow her to complete all seven subjects that she had studied.

"I was in a separate hall with a separate examiner and it was a little strange at first, but I got used to it.

"When I was given my results in school my assistant, Nicola Lenihan, opened them for me and I was really happy," she had.

Yesterday, Sarah planned to celebrate in style with her friends after a family lunch.
