Sarah dances way out of points race
AS Leaving Cert students begin the long wait for results, one young woman has little to fear after she was accepted into a prestigious dance school.
Sarah Gardiner (17), from Loughrea in Co Galway, has been accepted into TheatreWorks school in Blackpool, England, one of the UK's top musical theatre schools.
Sarah, who completed her exams at St Brigid's Vocational School in Loughrea, Co Galway, admitted the news did not go down so well with her fellow students.
"Jealous isn't the word. They couldn't get over the fact that there was no pressure for points. I think they almost didn't want to hear about it," she joked.
A graduate of the Performing Arts School in Galway, Sarah was determined to become a professional dancer, but she was over the moon when she discovered she'd been accepted into the TheatreWorks school.
"I went for auditions in April so I had much of my Leaving Cert exam preparation done at that stage anyway but I knew this is all I wanted to do," she said.
"I was delighted when I got the news."
