Safe and well: Mum Aoife and little Oscar come home
A mother and child reported missing at the weekend have been located safe and well today.
Aoife Ni Raghaill, 35, and her young son Oscar, 2, from Connolly Square, Bray, Co Wicklow, had been missing since Saturday.
They disappeared after staying overnight on Friday in a friend's house in Drimnagh.
Friends believed their plan was to head home after a walk on the canal, but Gardai spoke to Aoife on Saturday evening, on Grafton Street, and made contact with Aoife's father Muiris, who asked for them to be put into a taxi to get them home.
The young mother and child never made it home to Bray, and the family was extremely concerned for their safety.
Mr O'Raghaill spoke with his daughter very briefly on Sunday morning. "I offered money for the taxi, but she said she had enough to get home."
Investigators had checked ATM transactions and phone records in an attempt to get some insight into where the young mother and her son might have been.
Aoife's worried father told Gardai that his daughter may have travelled to the West of Ireland, but he was just anxious to have them both home safe and sound.
Today his prayers were answered.
Neighbours in Bray described Aoife as a quiet young woman who could be seen regularly playing with her son on the square in front of their house.
