Unsurprisingly, a large portion of humble pie wasn't on the menu specially for Ryan O'Neal when he dined in Chapter One last weekend - after his bonkers comments about his daughter to Tubs the night before on RTE.

The Hollywood star pitched up in the award-winning restaurant on Parnell Square last Saturday night with a gang of luvvies.

He sat at the same table as Kenneth Branagh (I'd say that was absolutely riveting) along with twelve other guests.

Ryan went for the vegetarian option - with Celeriac and pearl barley risotto as his main course - and left at 8.45pm before going on elsewhere. Just around the corner from Chapter One at the Gate Theatre on Tuesday, Michael Colgan is promising lots of big names will be pitching up in all their finery for the opening night of Romeo and Juliet. They will probably include Gay and Kathleen - sound the trumpets! - John McColgan and Moya Doherty, Chris de Burgh and Diane, not to mention Michael's occasional house guests John Hurt and Michael Gambon.

Fra Fee, who plays Romeo in the production was of course Courfeyrac in Les Misérables with, another recent famous visitor to Dublin - if not chez Colgan on Waterloo Road - Russell Crowe.
