Rustlers skin and behead six lambs

A SINISTER incident where six lambs were beheaded and skinned has been condemned by the Irish Farmers Association (IFA).

Rustlers killed and butchered the lambs before taking their carcasses from a field in Blackhall, Dunboyne, Co Meath.

The lambs' heads, skins and offal were left in the field among up to four dozen other sheep.

IFA sheep chairman Eamonn Meade urged people only to buy lamb from supermarkets or noted butchers where the meat can be traced.

Mr Meade said: "These lambs wouldn't have been killed humanely."

He added that this type of crime is common in the UK but was rare in this country.
