'Rupture left me in constant pain'
ONE woman whose implants ruptured said she had been left "very depressed" and in constant pain.
The 39-year-old Waterford woman, who does not want to be named, paid €5,500 for breast enhancing surgery in 2006, but found a lump the size of a pea in her breast last June and her GP ordered mammogram and ultrasound tests.
"I thought I had cancer; it was terrifying," she said.
The test results showed the implant in her right breast had ruptured and leaked into her lymph glands.
The implants had to be removed for her safety but she still has constant chest pain, can no longer wear a bra and is being treated in a private hospital in Dublin for ongoing health problems arising from her breast enhancement surgery.
