RTE man seeking seat 'is no Lee'
FINE Gael is dismissing comparisons between George Lee and the latest RTE personality seeking a Dail seat.
Just a week after Mr Lee headed back to RTE, Barry O'Neill is trying to go in the opposite direction.
The radio sports presenter is favourite to be picked tonight as FG candidate for the Donegal South-West by-election, created by the election of Fianna Fail's Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher to the European Parliament.
Mr O'Neill, a member of Donegal County Council, is a poll topping, two-term councillor and has a high public profile, but faces strong opposition from two other party councillors.
Local Fine Gael TD Dinny McGinley denied that the party would be making the same mistake twice by nominating another RTE personality. He said that unlike Mr Lee, Mr O'Neill had been "immersed in politics for years".
