THEY can't make him go away in the short term, but Brian Cowen disappeared momentarily yesterday.
The Taoiseach's direct explanation to the nation on why he intended to remain in power over the coming weeks was stopped in its tracks last night -- by a technical glitch.
Mr Cowen was being grilled by Bryan Dobson on RTE's Six-One' news shortly before 6.30pm when the feed from Leinster House suddenly failed.
Efforts to contact RTE were unsuccessful last night.
Mr Dobson waited in vain for the link to re-established before moving on to a different story.
Returning to Mr Cowen a few minutes later, the message had not changed.
"I am committed to leading this party. There is no vacancy. There is no probationary period," the Taoiseach said.
