Rifle was being 'minded' by youths for gang
A RIFLE seized by gardai in south Dublin was being "minded" by young associates of a crime gang in the area.
As a result of an intelligence-led operation, detectives raided a house in the Captain's Road area of Crumlin on Tuesday afternoon.
They recovered the rifle, which had been fitted with a telescopic sight, and firearm component parts.
Gardai said the haul was being taken over a wall to be moved to another location when they intercepted it.
During the search detectives arrested four men, aged in their late teens and early 20s.
They were detained last night at local garda stations under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. This allows officers to hold them without charge for up to three days.
