REVENUE officials have carried out a search of the home of independent Dail deputy Michael Lowry.

Officials called to his home at Holycross, Co Tipperary, on Tuesday.

It is understood that a premises in Dublin was also visited as part of the operation.

Mr Lowry, who resigned as a Cabinet miniser in the Rainbow coalition after revelations about his business affairs, could not be contacted for comment at either his home or his Thurles constituency office.

Mr Lowry has been an independent TD for Tipperary North for the past fifteen years.

A Revenue spokeswoman said they would not comment on individual cases.
