Revealed: What men and women most want to protect in their homes

A new survey has shown what people most value in their home and the results show men and women are split on what is important to them.

A survey by Liberty Insurance found that 46pc of men value technology. Meanwhile the most common item women said they valued most was their photos (36pc).

The company also looked at how Irish people protect their homes and found that the less than half of homes have a burglar alarms (45pc).

But of those who do around 87pc of people regularly use them.

Almost everyone surveyed had a smoke alarm installed in their home, but there was a mixed result when it comes to how often people check their alarm is working.

Around the country 16pc of people said they had a guard dog.

Ahead of the bank holiday weekend a number of tips have been suggested for people to protect their homes including keeping valuables out of sight, asking a neighbour to park in your drive and keeping any plans off of social media.
