A Tipperary priest left almost €2m in his will, included a €7,600 bequest to his bishop. Retired Catholic priest Father Thomas Morrissey from Upper Mullough, Newcastle, Co Tipperary, left estate valued at €1,984,637.
According to documents lodged in the Probate Office last week, Fr Morrissey, who died on September 27 last, left two farms totalling 190 acres in Tipperary to a cousin in Tipperary and his gold chalice to the people of Newcastle.
He also left bequests of €19,000 each to the Holy Ghost fathers in Rockwell, Co Tipperary, the Columban Fathers in Navan, Co Meath, the Kiltegan Fathers in Co Wicklow, the monks of Mount Melleray Abbey in Waterford and to his housekeeper. He left €7,600 to the Bishop of Waterford.
