The pair (40s) were attempting to rob an apartment but were interrupted by seven residents in an apartment in Stillorgan yesterday at approximately 3pm.
The men were heard by the residents in an adjoining room and were detained by the residents.
A number of residents were assaulted during the incident.
Gardaí arrived at the scene as the two men were attempting to flee and were arrested.
A hammer and belongings from the apartment were seized from the two men and they were brought to Dundrum Garda Station.
All seven residents were injured and some needed medical attention.
“Both men were taken to Dundrum Garda station where they are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.
