Residents fume as thieves steal lights off community Christmas tree

Palmerstown residents were left fuming when the lights off two of their community Christmas trees were stolen yesterday.

The tidy town committee in the area took to Facebook to notify residents to stay vigilent.

The status read: "Theft alert - please keep an eye on the Christmas decorations in the Village - sets of lights were removed from two small trees in planters last night - help us keep Palmerstown lit this Christmas season."

Several people expressed their disgust at the incident.

"Nothing has changed since I left.

"Proves a point. You will never educate the the uneducated to respect the world around them it may be fun to them now but one day they may wake up," wrote one, while another posted "You need not say anything to the scum but when you have a chance call the cops."
