Remember those less fortunate: archbishops
The leaders of the country's two main Christian churches have jointly appealed to people to reach out to refugees, the homeless, those who are alone and those who are afraid this Christmas.
The Catholic Archbishop of Armagh, Eamon Martin, and his Church of Ireland counterpart, Archbishop Richard Clarke, said in a statement that one of the challenges of Christmas was to bring "safety" into the lives of those around us.
While "Christmas is a time when many of us are happy to have the emotional security and safety of our family and friends around us", the two senior churchmen appealed to people to remember those who were less fortunate.
They highlighted that there were people in Ireland today "who are without the security of food or even of a roof over their heads".
