Quinn has no plans to swap Dail for EU Commissioner job
EDUCATION Minister Ruairi Quinn has no interest in going to Brussels as the next EU Commissioner.
Mr Quinn said that he would like to see out the Government's full five-year term in his current role.
There was speculation this week that a Cabinet reshuffle next year could result in Mr Quinn being replaced in education, and offered the Brussels job instead.
The minister said he had expressed an interest in the commission job five years ago, "and that is probably what is fuelling this now, but I am very happy with the job I have".
He said Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore had indicated that they expected the Government to go the full distance.
"I have started a substantial programme and would certainly like to see it through," said Mr Quinn – although he acknowledged "these decisions are not for me".
