PROMINENT dissident republican Colin Duffy was today arrested by police investigating suspected terrorist activity in Northern Ireland.
Duffy, 45, from Lurgan, Co Armagh was detained this morning by officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) serious crime branch.
He has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
Colin Duffy is one of the most high profile and best recognised faces among republicans opposed to the peace process in Northern Ireland.
He has been cleared of murder in three separate cases involving police and army personnel.
Last year he walked free from court after being acquitted of all charges connected to the murder of two soldiers at Massereene Army barracks. Sappers Mark Quinsey, 23, and Patrick Azimkar, 21, were gunned down in a hail of bullets as they collected pizza from the gates of the Antrim base hours before they were due to deploy to Afghanistan.
