A SUSPECTED political 'dirty tricks' campaign is being investigated after a Sinn Fein councillor said he knew absolutely nothing about a social media account which used his name to level serious unfounded sexual allegations against Labour Party officials.
Sinn Fein Cllr Seamus 'Seamie' Morris said he knew "absolutely nothing" about the controversial postings on Twitter.
"I know nothing about it. That is not from my account. My official Twitter account is @nenaghman and nothing was posted from that," he said.
But Cllr Morris, who is a member of Tipperary North Co Council said he had noticed strange activity surrounding his Facebook account over recent weeks. Asked whether he suspected someone may have been engaged in a 'dirty tricks' campaign and attempted to hack his social media accounts, he said he had no such information.
However, he indicated he would be raising the matter with party officials.
