Probe into cause of blaze at recycling plant

AN investigation is underway following a blaze at a waste recycling plant in Glanmire on the outskirts of Cork city.

The fire broke out shortly after 7.30pm last night at the Greenstar plant at Sarsfield Court in Cork.

Twelve units of the fire brigade fought the blaze for over an hour to bring it under control. There was extensive damage in the incident.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination in order to determine the cause of the fire. No one was injured in the blaze.

Greenstar employs 800 people across the country and collects waste from more than 80,000 households.
