Probe after robber armed with handgun holds up bookmakers

Gardaí have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Co Meath.

A man wearing a helmet and armed with a handgun entered the bookmakers on Main St, Ashbourne, at 7.10pm yesterday evening.

He threatened staff and demanded cash before fleeing on a motorbike with a sum of money. He is understood to have travelled towards Dublin.

Nobody was injured and no shots were fired.
