GARDAI are investigating the death of a man who was found stabbed in the garden of his own house last night.

The victim, believed to be in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene in the Co Tipperary village of Lattin, close to the Limerick border, after an incident at about 10pm close to his house.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene and detained by gardai at Tipperary town garda station.

The victim's identity was not released as gardai were in the process of informing the man's relatives. The stabbing is believed to have occurred after a dispute in the area.

The man's body remained at the scene overnight as gardai preserved the location while a murder inquiry got under way.

A technical examination is due to get under way this morning, while a post-mortem will also be carried out.

It is understood that the dead man was a native of Tipperary town, but was living in the village of Lattin, about five miles away.
