Power finally restored after storms as weather turns windy again

All homes without power following the Christmas storms were to have their electricity restored by last night.

ESB Networks confirmed crews were close to clearing the remaining faults and said emergency repair crews had restored supplies to more than 75,000 customers since storms swept in from St Stephen's Day. ESB said seven official storm days were recorded in the period between December 18 and 27.

Met Eireann says today will be mainly dry with outbreaks of sunshine, but another spell of wet and windy weather is set to develop again early tonight. Tomorrow will be breezy with showers, while New Year's Day will be unsettled.
