Poultry farmers seek price hike

POULTRY and egg farmers protested yesterday to demand higher prices.

They are seeking an extra one cent per egg and seven cent per chicken to secure the future of the industry.

Some farmers will have to close their doors if they don't get a better price, warned Irish Farmers Association poultry chairman Alo Mohan.

"This will result in chicken sourced from countries which do not meet our standards, and jobs will be lost," he said.
