Nearly all court sittings and some postal services have been cancelled tomorrow ahead of Hurricane Ophelia making landfall.

Postal services in Counties Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Galway, Clare and Limerick have been cancelled.

The situation will be review overnight and it is possible further counties will have services cancelled.

Meanwhile nearly all court sittings have been called off.

All Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High, Special, Circuit and District Courts sittings in the country have been cancelled.

Some Custody hearings of the District Court will go ahead via local arrangements, however it is hoped many of these can be conducted by video link for safety reasons.

People summonsed for jury duty for the first time or acting as a juror in an on-going trial should not report to courthouses Monday October 16th - but should instead report on Tuesday.
