A Post office worker has been interviewed by gardai as part of an investigation into the misappropriation of up to €1.7m.
It follows a separate two-month-long investigation at another post office into the disappearance of up to €15,000 of customers' savings.
Earlier this year, an investigation was launched after an audit found that up to €1.7m was unaccounted for at a post office in Gorey, Co Wexford.
Gorey gardai have now interviewed postal manager Tony O'Reilly (36) in connection with their investigation.
Meanwhile, the garda investigation into the disappearance of up to €15,000 of customers' savings at a village post office in the north west of the country has concluded and a prosecution file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
