Popular bar hopes to pull in bargain buyers

A popular bar is set to be auctioned with a reserve price of just €125,000.

The Barcelona Bar in Ballybofey, Co Donegal, will go under the hammer next month.

And it even comes with three apartments and a full seven-day drinks licence, which in itself can fetch up to €70,000.

"It was certainly the busiest bar in Ballybofey and probably the trendiest in Donegal up until last year," said estate agent Dermot Rainey from Sherry FitzGerald Rainey who is handling the April 6 auction.

"This particular bar is ready to go again, though the reserve price reflects where the market is at right now," he said.

The pub is being sold on behalf of receivers KPMG.

He added: "There's no doubt the Barcelona Bar can be a great pub again in the right hands."
