The Floating Voter Pre-Budget Podcast: Is the Government putting too much focus on social welfare? Newsdesk Newsdesk

In the first of two Budget specials in association with EY Ireland, INM’s Group Political Editor Kevin Doyle is joined by Floating Voter regulars Niall O’Connor and Philip Ryan along with Sarah Connellan from EY Ireland and Michael Dawson, founder of One4All Group.

The panel discusses whether too much focus is put on raising social welfare payments and not enough on cutting income taxes.

Sarah warns that the Government needs to set out a vision for making Ireland more competitive, while Michael has an interesting suggestion for Paschal Donohoe when it comes to the introduction of a sugar tax.

And the group presents their own fantasy budget, with plenty of predictions from Philip and Niall.

A post-Budget ‘Floating Voter’, also in association with EY Ireland, will be available on Wednesday, October 11.
