TD and brother report canvass 'harassment'
A TD and his councillor brother have complained to gardai after being subject to a tirade of abuse while canvassing in Dublin.
Reform Alliance TD Terence Flanagan and his younger brother Declan were calling to voters in Coolock on Sunday night when they were approached by two men.
It is claimed that the two politicians were harassed, verbally abused and followed by the individuals.
After contacting the local gardai, the Flanagans have decided against making a formal complaint. However, Coolock gardai are continuing to investigate the matter and have been handed a photograph of one of the men which was taken by the Dail deputy.
Terence Flanagan told the Irish Independent: "We did contact our community garda and at least they have a picture of one of the men. They were both extremely abusive and harassed us. The abuse was anti-government."
