So the election is set for the 1st - but which one?

So, has the Taoiseach finally divulged the date of the General Election?

As he arrived at the Heneghan PR 25th anniversary celebrations in the College of Physicians on Kildare Street, Enda Kenny collared former Fine Gael minister Ivan Yates, who has stoked up election fever by predicting the election will be held on November 20.

Mr Kenny loudly whispered in the ear of the Newstalk presenter: "It's the 1st," before walking away laughing.

And they're off... but wait - what 1st?

November 1st is a Sunday, December 1st is too near Christmas, and everyone will be too hungover for an election on January 1st.

Or, hang on, yesterday was the 1st of October.

The Taoiseach was clearly just messing. And he probably needed a lift (ahem) after his stressful afternoon in Naas.
