Seven months on and still no sign of forum on transport
Transport Minister Shane Ross has yet to establish a forum to discuss how to properly fund and plan the public transport network - more than seven months after committing to doing so.
The lack of progress on the so-called 'stakeholder forum' has been criticised by the transport trade unions. The forum was proposed last April, and is supposed to deal with issues including staff pay, planning of services, new infrastructure, funding and other matters.
However, despite meeting with the main transport unions including the NBRU, Siptu, Ictu, Teeu and Unite on July 10 last, Mr Ross has yet to provide details of when the forum will meet. A spokesperson for Mr Ross said he expects to announce a date shortly.
