The vision for 'transport' in Project Ireland 2040 is the sector that Independent.ie readers are most interested in.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar unveils details of the bumper €116bn masterplan today.

Ahead of the announcement in Sligo, we asked Independent.ie readers through a poll on our website: "Which sector's vision will you be most interested in?"

More than 4,200 people participated in our poll, with the majority (38pc) saying 'transport'.

A quarter of people answered for 'health', while a further 20pc said the investment in the 'housing' sector is what they're most interested in.

A total of 8pc of readers chose 'education', 6pc 'climate change' and 3pc said they're interested in investment in tackling 'climate change'.

Taoiseach Varadkar unveiled a number of measures that are set to have a great impact on our transport sector - including four new Luas lines to Bray, Luas, Finglas and Poolbeg, as well as the introduction of a light rail service in Cork.

Another major investment will be the M20 from Limerick to Cork.
