We were promised a new era. The worst of the Covid-19 pandemic was behind us and we were gallantly marching back into the country we left behind in March 2020.

The politicians thanked everyone for their efforts and teased workers with the possibility of Covid bonus payments. Cash for everyone, or at least everyone in the public sector, up to and including Revenue officials and Social Protection civil servants.
