Mullen eyes Dail seat at next general election
SENATOR Ronan Mullen, who ran an unsuccessful campaign for a European seat, is set to contest for a seat in the next general election.
Mr Mullen (pictured) said his campaign for Europe had seen his profile rise among the electorate, adding: "And at a later date you seal the deal with the people."
The pro-life senator said his strong showing in his home county of Galway also set up possibilities for the future.
He said he would take a few days to consider the decision: "It seems to be more likely rather than less likely that I will be on a ballot paper, because that is what you do in politics, you promote your ideas politically and I want to advance things in the country."
He said it would be a very interesting Dail after the next election: "People will elect forces that might not take our country in positive directions, so I would like to help ensure there are options available to people who are about building back up our country, promoting human dignity, etc."
Mr Mullen was the seventh person eliminated at the Midlands North West constituency.
