Hanafin added to the FF election ticket as Feeney loses out
Fianna Fáil has dramatically added former Education Minister Mary Hanafin to the party's general election ticket in the Dún Laoghaire constituency.
Ms Hanafin lost out to councillor Cormac Devlin at a recent party selection convention.
Councillor Kate Feeney finished ahead of Ms Hanafin in the selection convention but will not now be added to the ticket. The party will run two candidates in the general election.
Sources close to Ms Hanafin said her supporters had been led to believe that she was always going to be added to the ticket by Fianna Fáil headquarters.
Ms Hanafin said she was "excited" to run in another general election campaign.
"My commitment has always been to public service and the constituency and I look forward to continuing to do that," she said.
