The government’s Freedom of Information (FOI) website appears to have been hacked.

The website www.foi.gov.ie is currently inaccessible with a message claiming the site has been hacked appearing over a blank screen.

The message states: “Hacked by HolaKo”.

Underneath is the message: “We are the best of the rest. Free Palestine #SaveGaza,” while music was also playing on the website.

A Department of Public Expenditure spokesperson said the department was aware the website was down.

“This matter will be looked into as a matter of urgency,” she said.

The website usually holds information on the Freedom of Information process including how to go about obtaining information and what kind of information can be released under the FOI legislation.
