AN Garda Síochána gave a valuable IT contract to the firm Accenture without proper public procurement procedures and also paid money up front, Independent TD Mick Wallace has told the Dáil.

Mr Wallace said Accenture was on of the top earners from external Government and public service contracts. He said the 2016 contract had been worth €26.5m.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the firm had a good reputation for delivering public contract but he said public procurement procedures must always be respected.
