Funds for arts 'to double by 2025'
The Government has vowed to double the amount of public funding for arts and culture to €576m by 2025.
Culture Minister Josepha Madigan said the proposal to give the sector a significant cash-injection got the "seal of approval" by her Cabinet colleagues shortly before Christmas.
Funding for arts and culture will increase from €288m to €576m. The announcement came following the launch of Ireland's first national cultural policy framework, Culture 2025.
"This will allow us to support Irish culture on the world stage and to invest significantly more in national and local services for the arts, the Irish language and the creative, heritage and audiovisual sectors," said Ms Madigan.
