Fine Gael will be called the "United Ireland Party" if Leo Varadkar becomes Taoiseach

Fine Gael will be given the tag line the "United Ireland Party" if Leo Varadkar becomes Taoiseach

Mr Varadkar has also pledged to strip Fine Gael headquarters of some of its powers as part of his political reform plans.

"The party has become overcentralised in its decision making," his latest policy document says.

With voting in the leadership contest just days away, Mr Varadkar today switched his focus to reforming Fine Gael.

At the launch in Dublin City this morning , the minister said members will have greater say in the running of the party under his leadership .

Individual plans will be rolled out for each constituency and a major recruitment drive will be launched, he said.
