A bizarre video showing Fine Gael ministers in a game-show style quiz - complete with spinning wheel - has prompted comparisons with an appearance at a previous ard fheis by panto star Twink which caused major embarrassment to the party.

The four-minute video was shown to members at the party event in Dublin over the weekend. In it, ministers including Charlie Flanagan, Josepha Madigan and Regina Doherty answer questions on everything from what Taoiseach Leo Varadkar "famously" once put in a dishwasher (it was a spoon and there was a tweet to mark it), to how many times Ireland has won the Eurovision.

The video has prompted echoes of a sketch by Twink at the party's 1991 ard fheis, which drew criticism on the party for its sexist nature.

The video wasn't the only social media faux pas made by those in Government this weekend, however.

Sports Minister Shane Ross caused many a double-take after sharing a picture of himself at the Ireland rugby match on Twitter, which showed his pink tie in an unfortunate position - trapped in the zip of his trousers.
