FF figures play down Ahern's offer of 'help'
Senior Fianna Fail figures have moved to play down remarks by former taoiseach Bertie Ahern that again indicate his intentions to re-join the party.
In a move that has ramped up pressure on Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin, Mr Ahern said the party could win more seats in Dublin if he was brought back into the party fold.
Mr Ahern told the 'Sunday Independent' that he is getting a positive reception from constituents and wants to get back involved.
"Of course I want to see Fianna Fáil win the seat back and - one way or another - I would help," he said.
