Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael privately doubt direct provision can be abolished and replaced with own-door accommodation for asylum seekers as is being sought by the Green Party in government talks.

The Civil War parties committed to working towards ending the controversial system of accommodating asylum seekers in a letter to the Greens last month.
